RIO 2016: AFN waits for Team Nigeria women 4x400m clearance


Olympics in Rio, Brazil, August 5.



According to media reports, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), revealed they are expecting feedback from  International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency, after Nigeria’s women were disqualified in 4x400m relay in the forthcoming Olympics.

This disqualification was as a result of female athlete,Tosin Adeloye, in July 2015, tested positive from banned substances at the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Super Grand Prix/Warri Relays in Warri, Delta State.

Tosin was banned for eight years.

According to statement from AFN, “At the moment our team stands suspended. But we are waiting for further clarifications from the world anti doping agency WADA and the IOC to know the true position of the team."
