One man docked for stealing spaghetti at plaza in Lagos

Monday Suileman, 26,unemployed, allegedly sneaked into a shopping plaza and stole three cartons of spaghetti, has been charged to a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, thursday.

Mr Monday resides at No. 2, Adewusi St., Ajara Dokoh area of Badagry, 360 GP gathered.

The Prosecutor Innocent Uko disclosed to the court that the accused committed the offence at Ajun Plaza in Gbaji area of Badagry, but did not state when the offence was committed.


Uko added that the accused stole the items from the shop of the complainant, Miss Gbemi Adoveh.

“The accused went into the shop in the plaza and as soon as he noticed that there was no one there, he took three cartons of spaghetti but he was immediately apprehended by the shop owner.”

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The accused, according to the section, may be sentenced to three years in jail upon conviction.

The accused, denied the charge.

Mr Remi Ajose, counsel to the accused, told the court to grant him bail, revealed that he will not jump bail.

According to the ruling of Magistrate Abiodun Etti, the accused was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum.

And finally the hearing has been adjourned to October 7.
