Obaje wins NPFL top scorer’s prize

Wikki Tourist striker Godwin Obaje, has emerged as the top scorer of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, 2015/2016 season.Obaje netted 18 goals in the just concluded NPFL 2015/2016 campaign although, he did not find the net in the 2-0 win over Sunshine Stars on match day 36 on Sunday.

“Compared with last season we missed the continental ticket with some whiskers on goal difference, this season is hugely a successful one.

“I set out two targets at the start of the season to win the league title and the highest goal scorer award,” he told SuperSport.

“I’m not disappointed that we did not win the league crown though it would have made our day to be complete but I’m happy I achieved the individual award as well as a ticket to the continent.

“The final day clash 2-0 win against Sunshine Stars greatly helped us to the third finish and Confederation Cup ticket in the kitty.

“Generally, the out gone season is quite a good one for us,” Obaje said.

Wikki Tourists ended the season in third spot with 57 points, six behind Rangers.
