
According to the Sharjah Police have revealed that Four gangs of 19 Nigerian robbers targeted ATM vehicles and ran away with Dh1.8 million.
They reportedly enter the country on visit visas, specifically to commit the robberies.
They assaulted the security guards that were accompanying the vehicles in order carry out the robberies.
Colonel Rashid bin Bayat, the director of police operations department, disclosed that the robbers committed four violent robberies after targeting money transportation vehicles that were delivering cash to ATMs.
According to the police reports, suspects allegedly transferred a part of the robbed money to Nigeria.
The police have recovered the rest as the suspects were arrested from several apartments that were occupied by 30 to 40 Nigerians.
They were identified and arrested based on CCTV footages that were obtained from the banks and money exchange offices.
