Argentina legend Diego Maradona has revealed how his problems with drug addiction.
According to Maradona, "taking drugs was the worst decision he has ever made in his career as a footballer".
He admitted that his long-term struggles with drugs began during his time at Barcelona, he said he wished he had never taken them.
“I was 24 when I started taking drugs. I was at Barcelona,” he told Canale 5.
“It was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life.
“My daughter asked me to live for her while I was in a coma. I thank God because he listened to her and woke me up.”
On if money, women or drugs posed the biggest problem throughout his career, Maradona was unequivocal.
“Drugs were the biggest problem – drugs kill.
“I'm very fortunate to be here speaking to you. If I had continued I would have died. No doubt.
“I haven't taken drugs in 13 years now and I feel great.”
