The Gunners manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Per Mertesacker has signed a one-year contract extension at Emirates stadium.
The captain yet to feature for Arsenal this season due to injury but has extended his stay at the club till June 2018.
Wenger said, “It’s an option we’ve taken on Per Mertesacker. He’s back in training, not with the squad, but he’s maybe two weeks away now.
“We have a number of games and it’s important to have our experienced players back.”
Per joins teammates like Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin who recently extended the contract at the club.
