Real Madrid confirm Bale calf injury, to miss Champions League semi final against Atletico

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has been ruled out of their forthcoming Champions League semi-finals against Atletico Madrid.

The Wales international was rushed back from injury to feature for El Clasico at the weekend, but was forced off early in the first half.

Real Madrid have confirmed that he will be out for at least three weeks with a calf muscle issue, which would see him return to fitness in May.

A statement on Madrid's website read: “Following the tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Sanitas Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury in his left calf.

“His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
