Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced one of the indigenous oil and gas company, Aiteo as title sponsor for the Federation Cup.
The Federation Cup is Nigeria’s longest running football tournament. The tournament will now be known as Aiteo Cup under the N300 million five-year sponsorship deal sealed with the energy company.
The deal was muted by the NFF executive committee member,Ibrahim Gusau during the Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC kit sponsorship in Ilorin held earlier this month.
He didn't reveal the details of the deal, but hinted that: “Don’t worry by next week, everything ising equal, the media will be briefed on it and then details disclosed.”

Before this deal, the Federation Cup has been without sponsors since the initial sponsorship deal with the Lagos State Government lapsed and the Coca-Cola pulling out as title sponsors several years ago.
According to officials of the NFF, the title sponsorship deal is worth 2.5 billion Naira with winners of the male version clinching a prize money of 25 million Naira and female getting 10 million Naira.
NFF President, Amaju Pinnick said the press conference in Lagos where the deal was unveiled on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, that“We want to celebrate and thank Aiteo,”
Aiteo is also the company that has agreed to foot the salaries of the national team coaches including Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
